Beta Hunt is an underground mine located 2 km southeast of Kambalda and 60 km south of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia (Figure 4.1). The mine portal is located on the northern edge of Lake Lefroy at latitude 31°13'6"S and longitude 121°40'50"E. Kambalda has been a nickel mining centre since the discovery of nickel sulphides by WMC in 1966. The project consists of the underground mine and related surface facilities to support underground operations. There are no processing facilities on site with run of mine nickel and gold production being trucked to processing facilities within the district.
